Having a Hydration Plan Could Be Priceless

Whether you’re a runner, a fitness fanatic, or just someone trying to stay healthy, developing a hydration plan is a good first step. Depending on your level of activity, the weather outside, and a variety of other factors, it can be very difficult to keep from getting dehydrated. Instead of leaving it up to random chance (or hoping your body will tell
you it’s thirsty), you can instead create a plan that is designed to ensure that you’re constantly up on your fluid intake.
Keep Track of How Much You Sweat
How much you sweat is a good indicator of how much water you actually need. It’s often said that the average person needs eight cups of water a day, but this can be a little misleading, as it also depends on the amount of water that you’re actively using. If you’re sweating more throughout the day (through activity or weather), you will need to increase the amount that you normally drink.
Don’t Forget What You Eat
You need a certain amount of water through both your food sources and your liquid sources. If you’re eating things with a lot of liquids, such as fresh fruits, it’s possible you will need less water… but if you’re eating dense foods, such as a lot of meat or protein, you will need more water not only to compensate but also to healthily digest.
Schedule Your Water Intake
Drinking all of your water at the end of the day is almost as unhealthy as not drinking enough. It’s as important to drink water on a scheduled basis throughout the day as it is to drink a lot of water. Set an alarm so that you know when you should be drinking water, or check to make sure you’ve had water at certain points of the day.

How can you tell if your hydration plan is working?

The best way is to make sure that you feel energetic and healthy, that your urine is clear, and that your skin is not dry. But just because you are getting water doesn’t always mean you’re getting the nutrients that water
should contain.
