Traveling & Hydration
It can be difficult to maintain your hydration health when traveling, for a variety of reasons such as time and availability. Before you begin to travel — especially if you travel a lot for work or are planning a long vacation — you should consider how you’re going to keep hydrated.
Check the Local Water. Local water supplies are not always the best for you. In fact, some can be used by locals but still have a profound impact on visitors who aren’t acclimated to its taste thereby decreasing your intake potential.
Find the Best Water Sources. When you travel to a new area, one of the first things you should do is find the best water source. Ask the locals as they are usually best informed. Also remember when drinking any chilled drink that you also need to know the water source of those all so welcoming ice cubes on a hot day.
Track Your Water Intake. This will give you a better idea of what you are drinking daily, as it can otherwise be easy to lose track of how much you’ve actually consumed because you are so busy.
Keep Water With You. Carry a water bottle that is clean with you at all times. If you have water with you, you’ll often find that you end up naturally drinking more. Not keeping tabs on your hydration when traveling can be a tough spot to put yourself in.
The onset of dehydration symptoms – like reduce energy and focus or even leg cramps could impact the enjoyment of your trip. As long as you pay attention to the above however, you should be able to remain well hydrated.
